Looking at the Holy Trinity community, there is much for which we are proud and grateful. In order for us to continue with the good works of the parish, we need to take steps to ensure that we have facilities that are appropriate and functional. The worship sites that make up what is Holy Trinity have stood as witnesses to our Catholic faith in good times as well as in bad. Collectively, they have served our community for over 160 years, but these years have taken their toll. With the challenges facing our Catholic community today, we must consider solutions that will allow us to continue fulfilling the mission Christ entrusted to us.
Now is the time to address our parish’s most important needs.
•Just as those priests traveled the tremendous area that was our original parish of Webster County serving 30 families, our Priests today also travel but now serve upward of 2,743 households.
•With three of the five worship sites of Holy Trinity Parish in oratory status as of August, 2016, the remaining two sites are over 100 years old and require substantial investment to keep them operational and in acceptable condition. The initial costs to begin addressing the needs of the existing facilities exceed $26 million.
•There is a large need for handicap accessibility and extended parking for the older generations. Our existing sites are not adequate and with the now increased numbers at weekly Mass, even greater demands are placed on these facilities.
Over the past ten years many parishioners have taken part in conversations to address these needs and to continue to make Holy Trinity a welcoming, inclusive and spiritual place for all. As a result of these conversations, and as we look towards our future as our Holy Trinity family continues to grow, we have formulated a plan to meet our needs.
We will construct a new church building on the grounds of the St. Edmond Catholic School which is located near to the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. This placement will create a large Catholic campus that will lend flexibility to the parish’s mission and services. A new church is the best way to meet the needs of our unified parish while leaving a lasting legacy for the generations that will come after us.
Priorities for this new church include:
In collaboration with an architect and planner, we have developed a Master Plan that will incorporate a series of construction benchmarks, which will be possible through successful fundraising.
